Prepare to install your travel eSIM
A before-departure and arrival checklist for installing and using a travel eSIM.
Prepare the phone and read the plan's timing rules before scanning a QR code. Installation puts an eSIM profile on the device; when the data package becomes usable depends on the provider's terms.
Before departure
First, finish the device compatibility checks. Then read the selected plan's instructions for its installation deadline and the event that starts validity. Use our activation and expiry guide if the wording is unfamiliar.
Keep these details together in a place you can access during setup:
- The installation instructions and private QR code or manual credentials.
- The plan's supported destinations, validity, and start rule.
- The issuing seller's support contact and your order reference.
- Any APN or roaming instructions supplied for that particular plan.
Arrange a reliable internet connection for downloading the profile. Install before travel only when that fits the plan's start rule. If setup needs a QR code on another screen, prepare that screen; use a supported same-device method only when the phone and provider offer it.
Follow the steps for your phone
Use the iPhone guide or the Android guide. Do not replace your current line merely because the new profile is being added. Read each prompt and choose the intended lines for data and calls.
Give the new line a recognizable name, such as the destination or trip. That makes later checks easier when the settings screen shows several profiles.
When you reach a supported destination
Confirm that the travel line is enabled and selected for mobile data. Apply data-roaming and APN settings only as directed for the package. Check your home line separately so its roaming settings match your intentions.
Test a small, ordinary task before relying on the connection for a time-sensitive booking or work call. If the plan is not yet valid, the destination is not included, or the phone has no eligible network signal, repeating the installation will not solve the underlying problem.
Keep the profile while troubleshooting
An installed profile is not a disposable troubleshooting step. Deleting it may require a replacement or another installation method, depending on the provider. Keep the credentials private and ask before removing a profile you still need.
Work through the no-internet checklist if it does not connect. Gather the exact error, device model, location, and steps already tried before contacting the issuing seller. You can return to the help center for all setup topics.
